Namkeens are very popular Indian crunchy snacks. Most often they are based on chick pea flour, Indian Besan, with spices, and with which we make a dough that is then shaped up to be fried. For pieces namkeens, we use a machine, a sort of dough press. This machine can provide different thickness and different motifs for the Namkins.

The word Namkin comes from the word Namak which means salt in India (Hindi). There are a wide variety of namkeens recipes across Indian states. These snacks are very popular especially at tea time, or with a glass of Indian Lassi.
