Lakshmi is the wife of the god Vishnu. She is one of the most popular goddesses in Hindu mythology and known as the goddess of wealth and purity. Lakshmi is usually depicted as a beautiful four-armed woman standing on a lotus flower. There is usually one, or sometimes two elephants behind her, anointing her with water. She is also often depicted seated under Vishnu, massaging his feet.
She is Prakriti, the perfect creation: self-contained, self-governing nature.
She is Maya, the delightful illusion, the dreamlike expression of divinity that makes life comprehensible, therefore worth living.
She is Shakti, energy, limitless and generous.
