Raisins are dried fruits, ie grapes that have been dried. They are produced in many countries, including India, where it is called munakka (sultana grape) or kishmish (black grape) in Hindi. It is a famous ingredient used in soft and sweet dishes in Indian cooking.
We use golden raisins in particular to prepare a kind of Indian rice milk with cardamom, Khir or kheer, and for a Curry recipe called korma. It brings a certain sweetness to dishes.
Raisins provide a good source of fiber and vitamins, except vitamin C.
